Dr. Boyce Watkins and Melissa Harris-Perry faceoff today at 1:15 pm EST regarding Watkins’ concern about Harris-Perry’s attacks on Professor Cornel West.
The CBS show, 60 Minutes, had a lot to say about Rev. Al Sharpton. It’s an interesting segment about his life, his politics, and how he has changed over the years.
Dr. Boyce Watkins speculates on why Melissa Harris-Perry has attacked Cornel West without utilizing the facts. Could the two former Princeton colleagues have a past that Harris-Perry hasn’t mentioned?
Dr. Wilmer Leon explains how Democracy is in danger if we shut down the voices of dissent in America.
This guy takes Melissa Harris-Perry to the ground, saying that she avoids the hard questions in her personal attack on Cornel West.

After releasing the long form of his birth certificate President Obama said, “We’ve got some enormous challenges out there… We’re not going to be able to solve our problems if we get distracted by sideshows and carnival barkers.”

Desmond Tutu -- former Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town, South Africa -- says South Africa should not be embarrassed about its policies to combat AIDS.
"For many years we were embarrassed in international gatherings for what we were not doing in fighting AIDS. We therefore thank the Minister of Health, Aaron Motsoaledi, for the change in policy....It is a very rare privilege and honor for us the older ones to say we are passing the baton to you the young to carry on with the fight against this pandemic." - Desmond Tutu

In yet another interesting Fox News public gaffe, Glenn Beck recently made a comment about killing President Obama, by mistakenly making reference to the president when discussing Osama Bin Laden.
During one of his monologues, Beck was arguing that President Obama came off as arrogant in his speech about the death of Bin Laden, and that he doesn’t deserve as much credit as the troops who’ve been looking for Bin Laden since 2001.

I was on the radio today with Rev. Al Sharpton. Of course the topic of discussion was the death of Osama Bin Laden. The Reverend had some interesting guests on the show, including a woman who was in the building when the towers went down in 2001. Sharpton, as a New Yorker, had some interesting thoughts about the situation, especially as it pertains to the Obama presidency.

In the video below, “The Donald” congratulates President Barack Obama for killing Osama Bin Laden. Twitterers had been joking that Trump would now begin asking to see Bin Laden’s death certificate as official proof that President Obama has actually killed him.

President Obama announced this past Sunday evening that “al-Qaida’s leader and symbol” Osama bin Laden had been killed, “Tonight I can report to the American people and the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden…” This is a good thing. President Obama can now fly on to the deck the USS Abraham Lincoln and stand under the “Mission Accomplished” banner that his predecessor prematurely unfurled on October 29, 2003.

A recent report by the Economic Policy Institute has revealed that the economic situation for African Americans is disproportionately bad for the state of Michigan. According to the report, African Americans in Michigan have had an unemployment rate above 20 percent for every quarter since the start of 2009. Their 2010 annual unemployment rate was 23.4%. White Michigan residents currently enjoy an unemployment rate of only 9.5% for last quarter.
The conditions are so bad that the lowest black unemployment rate since 2008 (12.2%) is only slightly lower than the highest unemployment conditions experienced by whites in Michigan (12.7%). So, their terrible times are our good times and our horrible times don’t get attention from political leaders whatsoever.
Perhaps we don’t live in a post-racial America after all, since the unemployment picture is clearly different for blacks and whites.

A group of protesters met outside the Cobo Center in Detroit to protest the NAACP’s decision to give an award to Kid Rock, an entertainer who flies the Confederate Flag during his concerts. Adolph Mongo, head of Detroiters for Progress, spoke to the group.
"Do you know what that flag stands for? It stands for hatred, bigotry, racism, murder," he said.
NAACP President Wendell Anthony defended giving an award to Rock.
